ANOTHER BROKEN PROMISE

Another Broken Promise: Why Members Are Demanding Real Transparency

Fellow IBEW Local 1186 members — Our team at MembersFirst 1186 believes that transparency isn’t optional. It’s the foundation of trust in any union, and it’s something every dues‑paying member deserves without hesitation. That’s why what happened recently should concern all of us.

A Simple Request for Transparency

On March 21st, we submitted a formal and respectful request to the official union email address publicly provided by the current administration: ehahn@heao.us.com.

Our request was straightforward. We asked for the last two terms’ financial statements, actuarial reports, investment summaries, and performance details for the benefit funds our dues support:

  • Supplemental Unemployment Benefits (S.U.B.) Fund

  • Pension Fund/Plan

  • Annuity Fund

  • Health & Welfare Fund

Nothing extreme. Nothing unusual. Just the basic information members have every right to review.

The Email Didn’t Even Go Through

Within 24 hours, the email bounced back with a delivery failure. The server couldn’t accept it. This is the same email address listed on official PBGC pension notices — yet it appears to be nonfunctional. For two months, we’ve been told at union meetings: “If you have questions or concerns about records, just contact us.” We did exactly that. And we received no reply, no acknowledgment, no confirmation. Just silence.

A Wall of Non‑Answers

At the most recent membership meeting, members were lectured about “rumors.” But when legitimate questions are asked through the very channels they tell us to use, the administration refuses to respond.

That isn’t rumor. That’s a pattern.

This isn’t just poor communication — it’s a failure of basic accountability. Our dues fund these benefits. Our retirements and our families depend on them. Members deserve answers, not bounced emails and empty promises.

If You’ve Experienced the Same…

If you’ve tried to get information and hit the same wall… If you’re tired of being told not to “spread rumors” while real questions go unanswered…You’re not alone.

Drop a fire in solidarity. Share this message with a brother or sister who needs to see it.

The more of us who speak up together, the harder it becomes for anyone to ignore the membership.
